Our bodies continuously change from the moment that we are born. Chronic or terminal illnesses, at any age, disrupt the cycle of expected aging and add extra burden to our bodies, emotions and mental state. Being with the conditions due to illness have real impact, in our own lives, relationships with others, grieving what once was, perhaps even dreams unfulfilled.

If we pause to become mindfully aware, we may notice that we may be reacting to our illness in ways that are most likely aligned with how we have been dealing with other life stressors. The impact of illness may amplify everything further. Mindfulness and Compassion may not cure our illness; however, they will change our relationship to our illness, our bodies suffering through illness, as we bring in kind and loving awareness to be with what is.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for Illness and Caregiving

Modified MBSR for Living with Illness and Caregiving Course

Gold standard for learning to practice mindfulness for everyday stressors, MBSR course was originally created by Jon Kabat Zinn at UMASS Medical Center pain clinic to give extra resources to patients with chronic pain and illnesses, and symptoms, which modern medicine could not alleviate. MBSR is evidence based and widely studied, with positive improvements. It is still the most widely used and researched curriculum. As your instructor,

I am certified to teach MBSR through Brown University and trained at UMASS Center for Mindfulness where MBSR started (before teacher traning moved over to Brown). I also live with chronic illness, have been a caregiver to family members with different illnesses. It is my honor to serve and be with you as we move through the path of being with illness, with mindfulness and heartfulness.


Individual, 1:1, coaching and consulting sessions are available year round.

Courses are offered during select times of the year.
