HOW TO COPE

  1. Give yourself time to adapt to changes and new life.

  2. Allow yourself to cry, talk, or be quiet.

  3. Remember to eat, drink, sleep, walk or move whenever possible.

  4. If you are having ongoing difficulties with sleep, you may find some relief with relaxation techniques/exercise.

  5. If possible, start creating or re-establishing routines. This may include eating at regular times, sleeping and waking up in a regular cycle.

  6. Give yourself time to heal.

  7. You may find it helpful to talk to others and tell your story to them. If there are outsiders, it may be helpful to find solace in their listening ears.

  8. If listening to other people's stories is too much for you, you can give yourself some time off. If leaving sounds rude, you might say you need some personal time to take care of your toilet or other needs.
