Releasing

Yasemin Isler

animal death, children, grief, Poetry

She held him on her lap sitting

Too big to walk around carrying

The furs doubling the mass

The softness soothing to the touch

The purring still not off

Until the moment of release

An unknown space

Cold, hard, questioning one’s existence

Good bye cat.

Will you come back tonight to play?
